Violations of the land rights of traditional and indigenous communities, which witnesses a recent and worrying increase in violence within areas where carbon offsetting projects are deployed, prompted the development of the Carbon Violence archive, which hopefully could become a collaborative platform to make visible the impacts of these harmful projects on local communities.
The archive starts as an individual initiative, implemented on the basis of a project by Sam Lavigne and Tega Brain, which I offer to the organisations participating in the forum, hoping they will adopt it, just as I invite communities and defenders to report incidents recorded in the areas of carbon offsetting projects.
